Vaughan Pioneers

William and Fereby Vaughan

Of Russell County, Virginia

And their Descendants

By Lewis E. Vaughan

Introduction to the On-line edition: Vaughan Pioneers by Lewis Vaughan has been the standard for research into William and Fereby Vaughan for many years. In 2000, Lewis Vaughan gave permission for the Vaughan Pioneers group to copy his work into an on-line edition. The members of the Vaughan Pioneers group spent many hours typing the book into a format that could be placed on-line. Connie Chancellor and Peggy Hermann both typed well over 100 pages each, and many others contributed as well. This edition of the book will be slightly different then the original paper edition. Originally, it was our intention to put the book on-line in sections with hyperlinks to each section. But due to size restrictions, we have decided to simply provide a link where an interested researcher could download the entire document, which is in Word 97 format. The download does NOT include the book index, which can be found in a very large Jpeg file  (nearly 10 MB) which can also be downloaded from this site. We have kept the same format, including the page numbering and page breaks, but the pictures in the paper edition will not be found in this on-line edition, due to server size. Also, the index to this work is not in text format like the book, but consists of picture scans of the original index. Another way to find someone in this book, other then consulting the index pages, is to use your web browser's FIND feature.
